I am super duper excited to be sharing the details of our second crochet along today! This time around we are not only creating afghans, but also multiple different projects using those hexagons!
- Starting Monday April 6 and going through Thursday April 16th, our eight bloggers will all be sharing a new hexagon pattern. There will be a new pattern each day Monday - Thursday. Try out each pattern as we go along! It's a great way to learn and practice new techniques. You can use all of them in your final project or pick your favorites.
- Then, on Monday April 20th, we will each be posting tutorials for turning your hexagons into something great! You pick the project and the hexagons - we will show you how to put it together! The great thing about this is that our projects range from a small to large!
If you want to crochet along with us, be sure to join our facebook group to keep up to date on all the new posts and patterns! For now, here's what you will need to get started:
Round 1~ Taking your 7.00mm crochet hook and worsted yarn (Dove Heather), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 2 Chains. Crochet 12 Half Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first half double crochet. You should have 12 hdc's now.
Round 2~ Change yarn colour to Denim. Chain 3, crochet 1 Popcorn Stitch in the same stitch {Note: Since the chain 3 counts as the first double crochet, only crochet 4 double crochets instead of 5 for the first popcorn stitch}. *Skip 1 stitch. Crochet 1 Popcorn Stitch in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Now, place your hook directly under chain 3, and slip stitch around it. You should have 6 popcorn stitches now.
Round 3~ Change yarn colour to Dove Heather. Chain 3, crochet 1 Popcorn Stitch in the "Chain 3" space you made in the previous round {Note: Since the chain 3 counts as the first double crochet, only crochet 4 double crochets instead of 5 for the first popcorn stitch}. *Crochet 2 Popcorn Stitches in the space between the previous round's popcorn stitches. Repeat from the * all around. You should have 12 popcorn stitches.
Round 5~ Turn your work so that you are crocheting from the other side of the hexagon. Chain 2. Crochet 2 Half Double Crochets into the "Chain 1" space you made in the previous round. Chain 1 and crochet 3 Half Double Crochets into the same stitch/space. Crochet 3 Half Double Crochets into the next "Chain 1" space. *Crochet 3 Half Double Crochets into the next "Chain 1" space, Chain 1 and crochet 3 Half Double Crochets into the same stitch/space. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into top of chain 2.
Round 6~ Turn your work so that you are crocheting from the other side of the hexagon. Chain 1, crochet 1 Single Crochet in the same stitch. Crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next 5 stitch. *Chain 1, then crochet 1 Single Crochet in the next 9 stitch. Repeat from the * all around. {Note: The "Chain 1" helps to create the corner. Make sure to have 9 single crochets on each side of the hexagon}. Slip Stitch into the first single crochet.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
Hope you all enjoyed this quick hexagon pattern!
