From the playful 'Toy Story' to the romantic 'Beauty And The Beast' I honestly can't get enough of animated movies! This has been an ongoing obsession since I can remember, so it probably comes as no great surprise that one of my latest animated favs is 'Despicable Me'!
I've been looking forward to the sequel for quite some time now, but what I'm looking forward to the most is seeing more of those adorable little minions! For some strange reason, their mumbling reminds me of Mr. Bean. You have NO idea what they're saying, yet you understand them perfectly!
So to indulge in my animated child fantasy, I decided to get to work and crochet a cute little minion phone case! I hope you guys all enjoy it!
What You'll Need
5.00mm Crochet Hook
4.50mm Crochet Hook
5 Colours of 25g DK Yarn {8ply}
Scissors
Tapestry/Wool Needle
Finished Size:
Fits a phone that is 12cm (4.7 inches) in height, and 6cm (2.35 inches) wide.
{Note: This case should fit most iPhones, but can be easily adjusted as I explain below}
~ Case ~
Row 1~ Chain 1, then Single Crochet into the following stitch. Continue crocheting Single Crochet all across, making sure to end with 3 Single Crochet into the last chain. The extra 2 single crochets will turn your work around, and upside down. Now you're going to continue crocheting Single Crochet into the bottom of the row of chains, making sure to end with 2 single crochets in the last chain. Slip Stitch into the chain you made at the start of this row.
Row 2 - 9~ Chain 1, then Single Crochet into every stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Row 10 - 15~ Change yarn colour to yellow. Chain 1, then Single Crochet into every stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Row 16 - 18~ Change yarn colour to black. Chain 1, then Single Crochet into every stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Row 19 - 22~ Change yarn colour to yellow. Chain 1, then Single Crochet into every stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
{Note: Depending on the height of your phone, you can add and adjust a couple of extra rows.}
I know the case is looking very long and skinny at the moment, but once it's on your phone it stretches out just enough for a snug fit.
Fasten off, and weave in ends.
~ Eye ~
Row 2~ Change yarn colour to white. Chain 1, Single Crochet into the same stitch. Then crochet 2 Single Crochet into every stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
Row 3~ Change yarn colour to grey. Chain 1, Single Crochet into the same stitch. *Then crochet 1 Single Crochet into the next stitch. Crochet 2 Single Crochet into the next stitch. Repeat from the * sign all around, making sure to end with only 1 Single Crochet into the last stitch. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 1.
When you've completed all the rows, take your tapestry needle and sew your eye onto your phone case, right in the middle of the black stripe on your case.
Then to add some extra cuteness I back stitched a little smile right below the minions eye with some grey yarn.
Fasten off, and weave in ends.
