Today I'm so excited to share my first square for "The Blog Hop Crochet Along"!
For the past 2 weeks I've been working on this square design, in an attempt to make it the best square I've ever created!
I have to admit though, that there was quite a bit of trial and error involved, but I am so happy with the finished result!

A few weeks ago I was asked to join a blog hop crochet along, and I immediately said I am so excited to be joining The Blog Hop Crochet Along today!
I'll working with these lovely bloggers to bring you some of the most beautiful crocheted squares!
The bloggers include Persia Lou, Little Monkeys Crochet, Fiber Flux, Loopsan, One Dog Woof, Maybe Matilda, Dream A Little Bigger, Gleeful Things and Whistle & Ivy!
Here's how it is going to work:
- Every day (Monday - Friday) a new square pattern will be posted on one of our ten blogs.
- You can join in the fun by crocheting each day's square on that day or whenever you have time.
- Share your progress and post photos of your squares in our Facebook Group.
- By the end of the Crochet Along you will have twenty 12" squares all ready to be pieced together into a beautiful afghan just in time for the holiday season.
- Finally, we will be hosting some fabulous giveaways!!! You could win some beautiful Lion Brand Yarn to make your own afghan, $100 CASH money OR our completed afghan! That's right, we are going to be piecing all of our squares together and shipping an afghan out to one very lucky winner.

Flower
Round 1~ Taking your 5.00mm crochet hook and worsted yarn (Dark Old Pink), start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 3 Chains. Crochet 12 Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the first double crochet. You should have 12 double crochets now.
Round 2~ Chain 2, then crochet a Double Crochet into the same stitch, but only through the back loop. {Note: Continue crocheting the stitches in THIS round only in the back loop.} Crochet 2 Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2. You should have 24 double crochets now.
Round 3~ Change yarn colour to Light Old Pink. Chain 7, then crochet a Slip Stitch into the same stitch. {Note: You've just created your first chain loop.} Crochet 1 Slip Stitch into the next 2 stitches. *Crochet 1 Slip Stitch into the next stitch, then Chain 7, before crocheting 1 Slip Stitch into the same stitch. Crochet 1 Slip Stitch into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the first stitch of this round. You should have 8 chain loops now.
Round 4~ Chain 1. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet, 1 Half Double Crochet, 5 Double Crochets, 1 Triple Crochet, 2 Chains, 1 Triple Crochet, 5 Double Crochets, 1 Half Double Crochet and 1 Single Crochet into the first chain loop you made in the previous round. Repeat from the * mark all across into every chain loop, making sure to finish off with a Slip Stitch. {Note: These will be your flower petals.}
You should have 8 flower petals now.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Square
Round 1~ Turn your flower upside down, you're only going to be working into the back of your flower now. Taking your 5.00mm crochet hook and Pistachio yarn, crochet 1 Single Crochet below a flower petal, towards the right of that petal. {Note: You want to crochet this round into the back of round 2 of the flower pattern above.} Chain 2. Crochet 1 Single Crochet towards the left of the same flower petal. *Crochet 1 Single Crochet into the right-side of the next flower petal. Chain 2. Crochet 1 Single Crochet into the left-side of the next flower petal. Repeat from the * 6 more times. Slip Stitch into the first stitch of this round. You should have 8 chain loops now.
Round 2~ Chain 2. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into the first chain loop you made in the previous round. Crochet 3 Double Crochets, 2 Chains and 3 Double Crochets into the next chain loop. {Note: You've just created your squares first corner.} Crochet 3 Double Crochets into the next chain loop. Repeat from the * twice. In the last chain loop crochet 3 Double Crochets, 2 Chains and 3 Double Crochets. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2.
Round 3~ Turn your work so that you are crocheting from the other side of the square. Chain 2. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into the space between the sets of 3 double crochets you made in the previous round. Continue crocheting 3 Double Crochets into the spaces you made in the previous round. {Note: When you get to the corners, crochet 3 Double Crochets, Chain 2 and 3 Double Crochets into the same stitch/space.} Slip Stitch into the top of chain 2.
Round 4~ Repeat round 3. {Note: While crocheting this round, when you get to a stitch directly behind a flower petal, hook your crochet hook through 1 stitch at the back of that petal to secure the flower properly to the square. Photo example below.}
Round 5 - 7~ Repeat round 3.
Round 7 - 12~ Change yarn colour to Dark Old Pink. Repeat round 3.
Round 13~ Change yarn colour to Light Old Pink. Single Crochet all around the edge of your square. {Note: When you reach the corners, crochet 1 single crochet in that stitch. Chain 2, then crochet 1 single crochet into the same stitch again to create a nice corner.} Slip Stitch into the first single crochet.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Square
